Cat Training Tips - Some Reasonable Tips You are Able to Follow

There is always chance to train a cat to do certain behaviors, thus there is no detriment to practice these cat training tips. In truth, cats will do some good behaviors in their own good time. Since cats don’t recognize any urgency sense on anything or anyone else in the world, the most fundamental sensible cat training tips would be never supposing a cat to act like a human or a dog.

What's In It For Me?

The rewarding method is another helpful cat training tip you can do as your first training. At this point, you are not tolerable to punish if the cat does bad behaviors though. It is not only unkind, but it just does not work. As a cat trainer, your job is to make your cat act what you want the cat to act – however make the cat suppose it was all the cat's own idea.

Well, in order to have their behavior modified in, cats require a predictable reward. What is significant in this cat training tip is that ALWAYS rewarding your cat for his good behavior.

Rather than punishing bad behavior with a smack or hitting with a rolled up newspaper, just shush like a cat. Even clapping your hands sharply will get your cat's attention. When you have your cat's attention, then you can gently push the cat to do some other preferred behavior.

For Example, if you see your cat about to squat in your shoes, pick up the cat and put them in the litter box. Never hit them. If you can remember no other commonsense cat training tips than that, just follow that one.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

Other commonsense cat training tips are to start training any behavior you want inside with as few distractions as possible. You also have to work with your cat. Don't initiate a training session when the cat is sleeping, eating or sick. The only thing you will do is really ticking off your cat.

Perhaps you are trying to get your cat to not eat certain house plants. You would then want to instruct your cat not to eat the plants. Things will go a lot easier for you if you take the plants away from the reach of the cat's mouth. Do not just leave the plants where they are and expect the cat not to touch them.

These are just some of cat training tips that will be helpful for you to get your cat mannerly. Keep in mind, cats are not human and don’t do things out of spite. However, they could also act unruly if you leave enticement within their reach.

How To Train a New Puppy To Stop Biting

It is important to start training your puppy well before he reaches the age of 4 months. If your dog has a nipping and biting habit it should be resolved with the help of proper training techniques and certain commands well before he reaches this age. But if your training fails to yield the desired results or if you have adopted a puppy that is almost 4 months old or older, then you can use the tips mentioned here to help you to train him and get him to stop biting and nipping at your hand. You may need to purchase some dog supplies for your new puppy, such as elevated dog feeders or discount dog crates that will aid in training.

The first thing that you need to do if your dog has a nipping and biting problem is stop all play which includes even traces of hostility. The usual games to avoid would be tug of war and wrestling. Most pet owners enjoy indulging in these games with their puppies but if your pet has the tendency to nip and bite your hand you will only encourage him by playing games that include rough housing. He will feel that his behavior is acceptable.

Generally most young puppies that are teething will tend to nibble at your hand which is acceptable given their young age. But once your dog grows up you don’t want to make any exceptions and you shouldn’t tolerate any nips or bites at all. Even if you feel that your dog didn’t mean to hurt you or is just play biting, you should immediately pull your hand away and give him a firm command to stop.

If your dog still continues with his nipping habit you may want to use measures that may shock him out of his habit. No I certainly am not recommending the use of torture devices such as shock collars but a squirt gun or bottle should work wonders. The moment your dog nibbles on your hand just squirt some water on his head or body this will shock him enough to make him stop. Eventually he will learn that every time he bites, you will use the squirt gun so he stops doing it.

Finally never take a biting or nipping incident lightly and laugh it off. These incidents merit firm disciplinary commands. Regardless of your dog’s age if you feel him bite or nip you immediately take a firm stance and in a loud voice say “no biting”. There are only two things that you need to remember here, the first is once you command your dog to stop don’t stare into his eyes for two long because he will think that you are challenging him. Also make sure that you don’t yell too loudly because you may scare your pup and fear is never a good training technique

Special Diets for Your Overweight Dog

Have you been asking yourself whether or not you need to put your dog on a diet?

The answer to that all too important question is…

As long as your veterinarian recommends it. Just as you are always told to seek the advice of your health care professional before attempting any type of diet, the same principle should apply to your dog. You cannot follow a proper diet while making sure your dog continues to get all the required nutrients without consulting with your vet.

Remember that your vet is an expert in the area of dog nutrition as well and has many special diets at their disposal. There are special diets for the dog with heart trouble, one with kidney disease, and of course one for overweight dogs. They also have access to prescription diet foods for puppies, for pregnant dogs, dogs with allergies, and dogs with sensitive stomachs.

Special diets come in all different varieties. There are both dry and canned diet foods for dogs. The canned variety comes in various sizes to meet the needs of different dogs, from the smallest to the largest.

Your vet may suggest mixing several different types of diet foods together. Special diets are often fortified with vitamins and mineral supplements. So you can trust that your veterinarian will suggest the best possible diet for your dog that will provide the best nutrition.

The Overweight Dog
There are not any quick fix diets for the overweight dog. If your pet is overweight it is your responsibility as a responsible dog owner to bring her weight back down to an acceptable range.

An overweight dog is quite similar to an obese person. They can be short of breath and always tired and sleeping. Moving around is a chore for the overweight dog since they have to carry around all that extra weight.

You should also remember that all that excess fat inside her body can lead to many other health problems as well. Excess fat in the body can cause a buildup of fatty tissue around vital organs like the heart, the lungs, or the digestive tract. This could eventually cause any of these organs to not function properly.

An overweight dog will need a diet that is low in calories so that she can lose some of the weight. Your vet will weigh your dog and determine how much she needs to lose. The vet will then prescribe the type of diet your dog should go on and how much she should be fed.

You will need to put in the time and effort to make sure that your dog is sticking to her diet. Make sure that none of the other members of your family are sneaking her snacks in between her feeding times. And absolutely not table scraps.

As long as you stick with it your dog will lose the excess weight and can go on to lead a long and happy life with you.

Stop Your Dog from Stealing Your Clothes

You will need to discipline your puppy just the way you would discipline your child. Puppies have the intelligence level of a 2/3 year old child so you will have to behave with them in the same way you would behave with a child of that age. This includes teaching them about the do’s and don’ts of the house. Some puppies may exhibit extraordinary behavioral problems but usually most puppies will indulge in little pranks like stealing clothing and other small items. Of course it’s all done in the spirit of fun. But be sure to get your dog supplies store, for your pet.

Puppies love to steal anything and everything that will fit in their mouth or can be carried away and once they have this thing in their mouth they bolt away real quick. Now when your puppy steals your sock for the first time it seems cute and funny. But I can assure you it will get very irritating to find shoes and furniture dripping with doggy drool every day in the morning after they get done slurping from the raised dog dishes. If you don’t stop your puppy in time, as he grows older he will start thinking that his behavior is acceptable to you and so he can continue. You will also want to view these dresses for dogs right away for your puppy.

There are many simple tips that can help you to deal with your puppies stealing habit.

1. You have to understand his motive for stealing the clothes and small items. Your puppy is usually doing this to garner your attention and to get you to play with him. Unfortunately, when we see our puppy pick up a piece of clothing we start running behind him asking him to drop it. But when you do this, your puppy thinks that you are participating in his game, so he will do his best to dodge you. Instead the correct course of action would be to leave the room and slam the door on your way out. This will certainly get your puppy’s attention and without you around he will have nobody to play with so he will immediately drop the item in his mouth and start crying for you.

2. The best way to deal with this situation is to distract your dog. So if you find your dog with your clothes in his mouth you should quickly walk up to the door and jingle your keys. Dogs don’t take too much time to understand that the jingling keys mean that you are getting ready to take them out and he will prefer going out with you over playing with the cloth any day.

3. The important thing is to not just leave it at that. Since you have made him feel that you are going to take him out, do so for a few minutes even a short walk will do. Eventually your dog will start associating the sound of the keys with all the fun that he has outside with you so all you will need is your key to distract him away if you ever find him breaking a rule.

4. Finally you can also use the squirt water or gun successfully to stop your dog from misbehaving. Of course you should be careful when using the squirt bottle. You certainly want to avoid the eyes and don’t over do it. But if you find your dog misbehaving often this is a safe way to jolt him out of his bad habits. Dogs find the squirt gun particularly unpleasant and will immediately stop doing whatever it is that they are doing when you use it.

5. So whenever you see your dog running around the house with something in his mouth and if all other tricks fail, just use your squirt bottle and giving him a firm “no” command. This should be enough to stop him in his tracks

The Process Of Teaching A Dog to Fetch

Most dog owners feel that dog training is a time consuming and cumbersome process. However, this couldn’t be further away from the truth; as a matter of fact dog training can serve as a bonding time with your pet. You can easily teach your pet certain basic commands like come, sit, stand and stop. There are many books and websites that will tell you about the various training techniques that you can use with your dog. This discount dog bowls will be something to consider for your dog.

One of the easiest ways is mentioned below. Lets starts with the “come” command. You can teach your dog to follow this command even if you don’t have too much time on your hands and without too much effort. The technique used here is positive reinforcement and it is a very simple and easy technique for training your dog. Positive reinforcement means rewarding your dog when he does something that he is commanded to do. Since this technique involves using small treats as training aids, it will be helpful if you use it before your dog has had his meals. For treats you can use kibbles or anything else that your dog is fond of.

1. The first thing that you will have to do is position yourself in such a way that your dog can hear your command and see the treat in your hand. The treat should be held in between your thumb and index finger. You don’t have to extend your hand out, instead rest it on your lap.

2. Next you will have to lure your dog with a happy command and a smile on your face. You want your dog to be excited about this little game that he thinks you are playing with him. So use a tone that conveys fun and excitement. Once you have your body language and the tone of your voice down, say “Sparky come”. Make sure that the entire training environment is fun filled and exciting. Your dog will have surely noticed the treat by now.

3. Now most dogs will have a standard reaction to a friendly tone and a treat; they will come running to you. But if your puppy just sits there looking at you, he may need a little motivation to come towards you and the food. To make him feel that you mean business, squat on the floor and put forth your hand with the treat held as it is. Now call out to him again, this should certainly get his attention.

4. Your puppy will most probably run up to you and stand in front. So this is the prefect time to teach him to sit. Start by caressing his neck and upper body then with one hand apply pressure on his hind to make him sit. While you do this, move the treat to his mouth. Once your dog has obeyed you, pet him and praise him. You want him to remember this experience and start associating it with the “come “command. Take A look at house for a dog and padding for dog crates for your dog.

5. Once you have practiced this command with your dog a couple of times, you can stop using the treat and just use your voice to command him to come to you. Even if you are not using the treat don’t forget to praise him because this will be a bigger incentive for him than the treat.
