Rustic Western Interior Style Home Decorating

Aching for some West Texas or old fashioned log cabin style home decorating? Refer to que game accessories for more information.

This is a great choice to make! This is a timeless and rustic style of home decorating. This style is also known as pioneer, log cabin, ranch, western or mountain style decorating.

No matter what you call it, this type of style is based upon the use of natural materials such as logs and woods, twigs, animal hides and antlers, rocks, metals, etc. To begin with you will want to figure out how you can add these natural materials to your home.

Western style furniture is usually rugged large heavy type furniture, but simple in design. There is a lot of use of bare wood. Very often in this style you will see rustic log beds, and other log furniture. Fabrics are often Native American prints, Cowboy prints, or cabin style-kinds of prints, including use of moose, bear, elk, etc in the prints. If these are not your usual preference, consider a rough or natural hair on finish leather, denim, suede, or weaves.

Colors should be mostly earthtones, such as rich browns, dark greens, dark reds, golds, etc. Some additional colors might include slate gray, wrought iron black, deep dark blues or lighter creams and yellows.

You'll want to add such items as knickknacks, old bottles, kitchen tools, quilts, blankets, wall hangings, pillows, antiques etc. This decor would integrate cowboys, saddles, horses, Native American crafts, wild animals and antlers found in forests and mountains, trout and streams, wildflowers, etc.

Old time items will go well with the look. You should look for bright and bold-colored quilts, old saddle blankets, barrels, weathered farm tools, Native American tools, feeding troughs, ropes and so on. Go to Biederlack for more information.

Use old horseshoes as candle holders or clothes hooks on your wall or as bookends. Take bandanas, animal hides, etc and make them into pillows, quilt squares, or even lampshade covers. Rawhide is often used for rustic lamp shades and lamps are also commonly made from logs and or antlers. Decorate with old Mason jars and canning items by scattering them around on your side tables, bookcases, or fireplace mantel.

A rustic, western style, or log cabin home should usually have a natural floor... preferably made from hardwoods or recycled plank flooring. But they could also be made from tile or flagstone. Western-style area rugs are also a nice look and will help to keep the tootsies warm.

Rustic lighting is a perfect complement and will go well with your new style of decorating. Old lamps made with cowboy or ranch prints are great, but you can use almost any lamps made from wood, metal, antlers and or rawhide. Lampshades made of stretched rawhide will really add to that ranch feel.

Other decorative details might include Native American beading, fringe, twig accents, metal drawer pulls and doorknobs, and anything made from logs. Many items made from animal antlers are popular such as lamps, chandeliers, coat hooks, drawer pulls, etc. Pottery and stoneware will add to the rough look.

Obviously there are a number of ways you can add this look to your home or business. Whether you are just adding a little touch, or decorating a rustic log cabin. The use of natural logs, metal, animal hides, antlers, etc will give a warm, rich look in the rustic, cowboy, or mountain style you are looking for. Visit acrylic blankets for more information.

Airbeds Can Help You Get A More Relaxing Sleep

Continue reading if you like riddles You can take it on a summer camping trip You can take it your to your college dorm It’s perfect company for a sleep-over at your friend’s house The simple answer to this riddle is airbeds

The circumstances in the riddle are pretty commonplace . Buying an airbed must have been on the minds of most people at one time or another. The choice for types and models is wide. An informed choice could be achieved with research. Relying on pricing will not suffice. The best choice may not be the cheapest or the costliest. I personally love sleeping on my double airbed.

An airbed must have all the right paraphernalia. It must have an air pump otherwise the purchase would be useless. The product catalog should be consulted thoroughly. Determine how long the airbed will be used, whether it’s just temporary or permanent . Decide on the desirable add-ons such as adjustment devices, built-in pillow and air-pump system.

Remember that there’s a great difference between an airbed and a regular mattress . Regular beds are more comfortable even though an airbed has been designed well. Choose an airbed with a good foam . This foam is the layer atop the plastic housing of the airbed. Those airbeds with memory foam are the better choice . This type of foam provides the right padding so you won’t feel just lying on air bladders . This foam should be just about like having a regular mattress to sleep on. I keep a single airbed in my guestroom.

To avoid higher shipping costs, try to go for the ready-to-assemble beds. Some airbed models have frames or other components that have to be assembled . It is therefore a necessity that your skill level is enough for such an assembly. If you are looking for an airbed for camping, the models with sturdy design and portable pump power supply would be the ideal choice.

One model that provides for an excellent option is the Simmons Beauty Rest. Travelling couples who would want to sleep together will be happy with this multiple-capacity airbed. The weight limit capacity of these air beds has to be checked though if you expect more than two persons to sleep on it .

If you wish to go for a really high-end airbed, the Somma Air Mattress is one of the choices . This model is suitable as a permanent bed with its high price at par with its high quality. Another homebound airbed is the Serta Air Mattress . However, it has a pump with limited power storage system requiring frequent recharge.

A built-in pump is conveniently included in the Wenzel Air Mattress. Carrying an external pump is not necessary, but you’ll need batteries to make the pump work.

Some airbeds are designed particularly for babies, such as the Air Flow Mattress. It is reputed to prevent the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) that occurs among newborns . This airbed has crib-friendly designs, which keep air flowing towards the infants and help prevent SIDS . All my kids sleep on a blow up bed for children.

One of the best ways to add some personality to your office interior design is simply by adding water. Whether you enjoy the background noise of a fountain, or simply want to add a little flavor with an aquarium, simply adding some water to your office can make quite an impression.

An aquarium is another item that you can acquire with almost any budget. From the custom saltwater tanks to a simple goldfish bowl, any tank will add a nice ambiance to your office décor. Another reason I like adding fish tanks is that your choices almost endless. Large fish, little fish, colorful fish, you can use an aquarium to accent other features of your office. Also, they are pretty low maintenance.

For those with a larger budget, you might consider looking into a custom built saltwater aquarium. The fish and coral you can put in a salt tank are extraordinary, but you will incur more expense as it is likely you will need to hire someone to care for the tank. They do require more maintenance, but a custom built tank in your office will add a dramatic effect!

Ideas to Decorate a Dining Room on a Budget

When contemplating the prospect of launching a new interior design project, typically improvements to your kitchen, living room, and bathroom tend to get the most attention.

But what about your dining room? Has it been abandoned? Are you more likely to be sorting laundry on your dining room table than serving a family dinner? As the way we eat and entertain changes, so must the role and design of the family dining room.

It's rare for families to sit down every night to a formal dinner at the traditional mahogany table, so why do we still keep it there like a museum piece? If the traditional is no longer functional, what does work in today's dining rooms?

Basically, multi-functional furniture, contemporary materials and style statements that not only break the rules, but also reclaim your dining room and make it functional again.

If you're ready for a dining room design challenge, here are four simple, but creative, ways to recreate the table and eight chairs of yesterday.

1. Make the space multi-functional.

Most families today are eating their nightly dinners in the kitchen, saving the dining room for small parties or get-togethers. So, recreate the space for that.

Start by opting for a table with leaves that can be pulled in or out. For cocktail events, you can keep the table small and give yourself more floor space while sit-down dinners can be accommodated simply by extending the table.

If you have the space, add a nice desk or a chair and a lamp to an unused corner. You can quickly and simply set up the space as a supplementary home office or reading corner.

2. Mix and match your chairs.

Just because you have a traditional dining room table doesn't mean you have to stick with the matching chairs.

Start by snatching up different chairs at local thrift shops, antique stores and flea markets. Look for a running theme, style or design to pull them together and try different sizes, like pairing a basic chair with bench seating.

Just make sure you choose chairs that synchronize well with one another so that the overall arrangement looks thought-out, rather than thrown-together.

3. Replace your table.

While replacing your dining room table may be expensive, a contemporary and modern table can create a major positive impact. Wood is traditional, but why not opt for marble, glass, white oak or even living grass.

4. Update your linens.

For a simple fix that creates an instant makeover, update your table linens. New tablecloths, placemats and napkins are an easy way to add some instant wow factor to a tired space.

Take Advantage of The Versatility of Various Area Rugs

Because hardwood flooring has become a mainstay in many new homes, there is nothing quite like a well picked out area rugs. Having the proper area rug can accentuate your home’s style and drive the feel of a space in your home as an essential part your home’s décor. While this isn’t a new concept to interior design, it has taken a back seat over the years due to many homes featuring carpet instead of hardwood. Because of the very hard-line nature of carpeting, an area rug can be far more practical when it comes to design and decor. Let’s have a look at the advantages that area rugs have over carpet.

Since carpet has to fill the whole floor space of a given room it generally has to be neutral in color. This reduces the risk of an entire room looking tacky due to a crazy colored floor, which could be too “loud” for any décor. A wonderfully designed rug can become the focal point of a room, allowing you to decide the tone you want to set for that room. It could be the tone setter of a room or the entire home. It can also be something that gets passed on to your children, who may identify it with “home”. This is why an area rug has so many advantages, because it can be so much more than just a soft place to sit on the floor.

On top of being far more flexible in how you chose to use it, an area rug is also way easier to replace, should your tastes and style change. Carpet requires far more hassle and cost to replace.

The beauty of area rugs gives you the freedom to express yourself compared to the boring neutrality of carpet. There are so many varieties of rugs out there that you’ll soon see yourself with more options than you were probably ready for. There are thousands of patterns, combined with different styles and materials that you can choose from. With this kind of variety, you can find the exact texture, look and feel that you want in your area rugs. As you can see, area rugs have so much more to offer than carpet - from being a soft and warm place to sit on a cold floor to being the focus of the whole picture and feel of a room or home. They have the ability to be simple or complex and allow you to express yourself in your home décor in ways you simply cannot do with carpet. There is more to area rugs than most folks give them credit for.

Use Of Color In Interior Designs

Interior design for children is one of the most fun, delightful aspects of the business if you ask me. It is so fun because children are limitless as far as their creativity and imaginations are concerned. Whenever planning interior design for children, be sure to involve the children in the planning and-if you feel very brave, the implementation of your designs. Go to interior paints for more information.

A good beginning point or theme for interior design for children is to start with any favorite activity or toy or even character of the child's interest. Remember that many items of interest to children are topics that will change with time so try to take advantage of these interests and favorites with accessories and changes that will be easy to replace in the future as their interests and needs change. If a child has an interest or a particular activity that they are very enthused about and they have a special request that would make the design very special to them, go for it as long as the parents are as enthusiastic as the child is. Also, forewarn them of any possible headaches they might experience changing it in the future when it comes time to redesign the space in order to accommodate the child's changing needs.

When choosing your color plan or schemes remember that interior design for children offers you unique opportunities to use bold or bright colors that would usually not be ideal for use in adult surroundings. Along the same lines, certain areas of the room would be more ergonomic to use as focal points then would in an adult's atmosphere. For example, a chalkboard or toy box might capture a child's attention more so then would a table or seating arrangement.

Another aspect of design that will vary from adult tastes when planning interior design for children would be the accessories that will be used to highlight and accentuate key features. Toys and collectibles make wonderful objects to use in this application. However, many times toys that are placed on display or for decoration are toys that the child would enjoy much more by being able to play with it rather then it actually being on display. You can solve this dilemma by either using old, unused toys that no longer captivate the child's interests or even by purchasing duplicates and allowing them to actually use one version of the toy and letting them know that the others are for looking only. Also, keep in mind that collectibles often times are of less significance to smaller children then are to adults so make sure that any item placed in a child's room is not of significant fiscal or sentimental value just in case! Refer to paint for more information.

Tying in interior design for children can be accomplished easily by purchasing one of millions of available bed treatments that is complimentary to the designs and themes used in the creation of the room layout as well as fitting in well with the accessories chosen. Many bed treatment packages come prepackaged with matching detailed sheets, a comforter, dust ruffle, and window coverings. These items can bring a room together in the greatest of all fashions and are an option in interior design for children that are obtainable by anyone looking to make a change.

Always remember when planning interior design for children that a child changes attitudes, opinions, and behaviors around every three years. Permanent changes of any type are a big no-no and practical, cost effective ones are ideal. A good furniture tip to remember when designing for kids is to buy reasonably priced, sound furniture that doesn't break the bank. Kids are even harder on furniture then they are on clothes! And most importantly to take into consideration when working with interior design for children--of course, HAVE FUN!!! Visit paint colors for further information.
