How To Get Involved In Labrador Rescue

by Brooke Sunderland

It takes a cold and cruel person to abandon or abuse a Labrador dog and if you know of a situation where a Labrador dog is being abused or has been abandoned then you should do the right thing and contact a Labrador rescue group right away. There are resources all around you that can help you find a rescue group and it is the right thing to do rather than let the poor dog suffer.

The one person that is just as interested in the safety and well being for all pets as you are is your vet. Ask your vet for any contact information they may have for Labrador rescue groups and they will be glad to supply you with the quality contact information that they have. If you do not own a pet and have no business with a vet then just contact the vet closest to you and they will be glad to give you that contact information.

Sometimes people forget that their local newspaper is a collection area for a lot of very important community contact information and they may just have Labrador rescue group contact information for you.

You can also search the Internet for local Labrador rescue groups and also for the websites of national groups. You may be able to find local contact information for rescue groups but even if you only find national group websites you are still getting somewhere.

Many national animal rescue groups have local satellite offices that you may be able to contact for assistance so go ahead and browse the national animal rescue group websites and if you do not see any local contact information then give them a call at their national headquarters and see if they can offer you any assistance.

Check your area for any reputable Labrador breeders and chances are that they would be willing to act as the Labrador rescue group for you. Many reputable breeders have no problem taking in abused or abandoned Labradors because the breeder does not want to see an animal suffer any more than you do. So contact a breeder and explain your situation to them and ask them if they would be able to take in this poor neglected animal and give it a second chance at life.

People that abandon or abuse animals are less than human and those pets should be rescued to give them a second chance at good life with a loving family. If you see a situation where a pet is being abused or has been abandoned then at least take the time to make a phone call and try and get some help for that poor defenseless animal.

Don't turn your back on a suffering animal, do the right thing and contact an animal rescue group and give that pet a second chance.

Tips On Looking For Labradors For Sale

by Brooke Sunderland

Labrador's make for excellent pets. That is why more and more people prefer buying a Labrador puppy to any other breed of dog. They are a multitalented bunch, well recognized for their versatility as well as adaptability. Unlike other breed of dogs, a Labrador puppy is not very whinny, not destructive, evenly tempered, playful but not aggressive, and they are very secure to the point of absolute confidence.

All these traits are the reasons why Labradors are famous all around the world. For first time owners, or even dog enthusiasts, having a Labrador is a rewarding experience. Now, if you're considering buying a Labrador puppy, you must know that there is an art to buying one.

You have to find Labrador puppy breeders that have the facilities and expertise to properly raise a pure bred dog. They may be a bit pricey than your neighborhood pet shop, but they can save you from heartaches and mounting veterinary care bills.

Technically anyone can be a breeder, as long as they own a female dog and produce a litter and offer them for sale is a breeder. What matters is the knowledge, and care that these breeders invest on their dogs. An indication of a conscientious breeder is their passion and care for the animals. They breed the animals not just for profit but also for a higher cause. The cause is to produce, superbly bred Labradors, with good genetics, healthy well-being and even temperament.

It is really disheartening for anyone to see female Labradors, breeding until they can't have litters anymore. Or the fact that they kept in cramped cages with only hard wire flooring and that their paws are swelling and full of puss. No matter how you deny this information, it really is happening, and we, as possible Labrador puppy owners should be responsible buyers.

Although this may sound weird, bear with me and in the end you will understand. Procuring a Labrador puppy is not a matter of the heart, but of the intellect. The reason is not just for your wallet's sake but also for the Labrador's. If you buy from pet stores, or just because a puppy is cute, then you are tolerating puppy mills that mistreat these Labradors.

The breeder must educate you in properly caring for the dog, and should keep in touch should you have any inquiries about raising the dog. A reliable breeder will choose the Labrador puppy for you, matching the temperament of the puppy with your personality.

The indications that a Labrador puppy breeder is a dependable one are that their motivation for breeding Labradors, they do not do in breeding and try to improve upon the Lab's gene pool, they have active, and seemingly happy dogs, they have clean facilities and that they are very concerned about educating you on how to raise you Labrador puppy in the right way.
