DIY House Painting Tips

Painting a house yourself rather than hiring a professional is common since the cost of hiring a painter can be quite expensive. For typical do-it-yourself painters, having the proper equipment and tools can make the job easier and bring success. For larger projects, think about getting a Wagner paint sprayer.

Before you start you need to compile a list of items that you will need to complete the job. Most likely you will need to buy new, high quality paint brushes, rollers, an extension handle and a ladder. If painting indoors, you may need to wash the walls down with TSP, or pickup some polyfil to fill in all those little cracks and screw holes. A ladder is going to be necessary as well and drop clothes or plastic to cover furniture when painting indoors is essential.

Whether indoor or outdoor, cleaning the surface is important and so is masking so you don't get paint on areas you do not wish to paint. Once your prep work is done, then you decide on the type of paint, whether indoor paint or outdoor and you go to work. Painting can be time consuming, but in the end, you will be able to step back and feel good about the work you just did.
